The ROAR Center Brief Advice Clinic for Survivors of Violent Crime in Baltimore City

We’ve updated our intake and referral processes to make it easier to get help from ROAR.

If you are a VICTIM OF A CRIME that happened in Baltimore City:

You can get FREE access to assistance from a lawyer, a case manager (someone to help with housing, work, school, childcare, etc.), a therapist, and a nurse care manager (someone to help you get the health care you need).

Starting April 1, 2025, ROAR will host twice-monthly walk-in clinics to provide information and brief guidance for legal issues, case management needs, and nurse care management. Anyone seeking help from ROAR can WALK IN (no appointment necessary—first come, first served) and meet with an attorney/paralegal, a case manager, and/or a nurse care manager in person.

There will also be someone there to talk to about mental health if you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, or depressed. We’ll share proven self-care methods for survivors of crime.

The first clinic will be held on April 1st from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Center for Restorative Change Community Center, 940 Madison Avenue, West Baltimore.

Clinics will be held at The Center for Restorative Change Community Center on the first and third Tuesdays of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If your needs are more complex than what’s provided at our Walk-In Clinic, a staff member will help determine and notify you within five business days if ROAR can provide extended services or refer you to an appropriate agency.

Call ROAR at 410-760-2781 at any time to hear a recorded message about upcoming ROAR Walk-In Clinics date, time, and location.

Generally, ROAR’s services are for adults 18 or older. If you are younger, please bring a parent or guardian OR let the adults in your life know about ROAR if they are experiencing challenges related to YOUR victimization.

Interpreter services are available for all our services upon request.

New referral process for our partner organizations

Beginning April 15, partner organization representatives will receive an electronic referral form to refer a survivor to ROAR for services. A ROAR supervisor will review the referral form and ensure it is directed to the right team member within five business days. Our staff will contact the survivor directly to confirm that ROAR’s services meet their needs and discuss how we can best assist you. That staff member will also contact you (the referring person) when we have contacted the person referred.

Weekly Expungement Clinics held at The Embrace Community Re-entry Center (ECRC)

If you need help expunging your record (see details on what type of records can be expunged), contact Willie Hamilton at 410-706-3760 to sign up for the expungement clinics held at 520 West Fayette Street on the first, second, and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additional services offered by the Embrace Community Re-entry Center (ECRC) can be requested along with expungements for those returning to the community after incarceration.

For victims admitted to the University of Maryland’s R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for a violent injury

ROAR has a unique partnership called the Medical-Legal Partnership with Shock Trauma (MLP) with the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC)’s R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. A ROAR lawyer can answer your legal questions and represent you OR refer you to another lawyer with the appropriate expertise. If you have already been discharged and have a legal question related to the events that caused the injury, call 410-328-9833 to speak with a violence prevention specialist for a referral to ROAR’s MLP.
