ROAR Senior Supervising Attorney Saraah Lang receives the Maryland Legal Services Rising Star Award

We’re proud to announce that ROAR Senior Supervising Attorney Saraah Lang was honored with the Rising Star Award at the Maryland Legal Services Corporation’s Annual Awards Reception on November 18.

In nominating Lang, ROAR Program Manager Monica Fulwood said, “When I think of a rising star, I envision a single light shining brightly as it moves confidently among others, distinguished, consistent, and full of promise. This is Saraah. Among the many talented attorneys working under MLSC funding, she stands out not just for her legal expertise but also for her quiet leadership, integrity, and heart. 

“Over the past year, Saraah has supervised a diverse legal team comprised of attorneys, paralegals, and interns. She leads with humility and competence, offering guidance that motivates rather than critiques, and setting a tone of excellence through her own example. Few leaders possess the ability, or willingness, to both advocate for clients in crisis and attend court proceedings simply to support a direct report.” 

Upon accepting the award, Lang said, “My work at the ROAR Center has shown me how powerful compassionate advocacy can be for people navigating trauma and complex legal challenges. The work we do reflects a shared commitment to helping people in need find safety, stability, and justice. I am grateful to be part of a team that is dedicated to this mission.”
